To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter of reference in regards to one Maria Santolupo. Approximately 10 years ago, upon moving into a new house, a neighbor referred Maria to me as a possible childcare provider. At the time I had two daughters age 2 and 5. When I went to meet Maria to interview her for the job I was very impressed with her background in emergency care. She was definitely qualified to handle any emergency situation that might have arose with my children. The children in her care were well behaved, clean and minded every instruction given by Maria immediately. I decided to hire Maria and she has been watching my children every since. I believe that Maria's parenting skills were an asset to me in that she gave my children consistency. In a military family, with one of us on deployment at any given time that was a great help. She always fed our children health homecooked meals and nourishing snacks. She kept a very tidy house which is hard to do with children running around playing. Maria was always teaching the children something during their stay with her. My children I believe learned much faster with her help. They learned their basics, colors, shapes, numbers and alphabet. They all spoke clearly at a young age and I believe that had a lot to do with Maria's tutoring abilities. Her means of discipline were always fair. The children knew that Maria only said something once and her punishment always fit the infraction. I never found fault with her methods and had no reason to question them.
When the children started school she was their before and after school childcare provider. She would get them to school and pick up after school. She had them do their homework as soon as they got home which was a great help to us. As my eldest daughter got older, upon my request, Maria started giving my her more responsibilities such as learning to wash dishes, helping cook meals, basic gardening, changing diapers and various other duties. This became helpful especially when we had our third child. My youngest son, who is now 3, was potty trained before he was two years old, he talks in complete sentences, is like a magnet soaking up everything he can and I know that Maria was responsible for a large part of that. I would recommend Maria to anyone who is looking for a dedicated child care or health care provider. She will always have your best interest at heart and will love your children like her own. V.L.
